Doro is pleased to announce it is launching a Doro Big Knit Easy group at the Marjorie Richardson Centre in Woking, Surrey. This societal campaign has been launched by Doro to drive community engagement across the generations. The first Doro Big Knit Easy event will take place on Wednesday 15 October from 2-4pm at the Marjorie Richardson Centre in Woking town centre.

The company has launched its knitting campaign to show how people of all ages can enjoy each other’s company and learn from one another.  Age UK states that in 2014 two fifths of older people in the UK (about 3.9 million Brits) say the television is their main source of company.  Furthermore, medical research has shown that loneliness is associated with the advance of common conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension and dementia. Doro believes that loneliness should not be a recurrent issue with seniors and wants to help overcome this.

The Doro Big Knit Easy Woking group will meet monthly at the Marjorie Richardson Centre to knit and socialise. Doro is providing complimentary hot drinks and cakes to those local residents of any age who wish to attend to ‘knit & natter’.   Guests are invited to turn up with their own needles & wool, or a knitting project currently in progress.

Chris Millington, Doro UK and Ireland Managing Director, commented: “By bringing people together, with a common interest, we can help build new friendships that span both the generational divide but also the digital divide. We will be encouraging people of all ages to attend and to share their experiences digitally.  Knitters of all abilities are welcome to attend this event in Woking to enjoy a good brew and a slice of cake on Doro.”

Those who would like to join the Big Knit Easy in Woking should register their interest at the Marjorie Richardson Centre, 19 High Street, Woking, Surrey, GU21 8BW.

The company has many plans for the roll out of this campaign including charitable events, celebrity involvement, task-based knitting challenges, competitions and seasonal themes.  Follow the campaign on social media to find details of future local events taking place with #DoroBigKnitEasy.
