Customer reviews
Doro 8030 is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for money I have been using my Doro for a few months now and am really pleased I chose it. Having been an iPhone user for six years I was reluctant to change but as funds are tight, I opted for the Doro as it ticked most boxes as a replacement. I am delighted with it! Sound quality on a phone call is superb, texting a breeze and I have all the apps I need. OK, so it's not the quickest phone and the camera is a little poor, but for everything else it's superb. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants to have a mobile phone for making calls, texting etc. and who wants to have access to a few apps, search the internet and listen to music. For this there is no better product at this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value I have this phone, not because "I'm senior" but because I have never had a smart phone. All those apps laid out on other phones are scary and the Doro 8030 is easy to set up, to use and making calls is so easy. I love this phone and just wish I had bought it sooner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Purchased my first smart phone at age 65 I have had a Doro "ordinary" phone for over 10 years and love it's simplicity and ease of use so when I decided to get a smart phone I went for Doro. This is taking a bit of getting used to especially when I a keep getting told I have a voice mail when I don't. Overall however I like the phone and will keep plodding on to get used to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent phone for the hard of hearing I had read many reviews before I finally decided this was the phone for me. This was my first smart phone and have never used one previously. The initial set up was done in the phone store where I bought it so I was 'good to go' when I walked out of the store. My main concern was that I could hear incoming calls being hard of hearing. I needn't have worried as the volume can be turned up to my liking (and further if required) so I can hear people speaking and the quality of the speech is crystal clear. I like the step by step introduction for those who have never used a smart phone before but am still struggling slightly with the pressure to place on the screen being used to pressing actual buttons for so long! I have turned off the internet (I prefer to view the internet on my computer at home) and removed the Google bar at the top of the screen as I kept inadvertently switching it on trying to find my way around. It's easy to make calls and send texts. I like the way you can increase the size of the text too so I don't have to keep reaching for my reading glasses. It's very simple to use and if you get stuck, you can press the 'I want to' button and it asks you what you want to do and helps you navigate your way there. The only things I'm not keen on.... it weighs quite heavy in my handbag and takes up more space than my old phone but, that said, so do all smart phones so that's something I have to live with :) I did struggle to find a store who stocked this phone and travelled to 3 cities before I could get one. I know I could have ordered one on line but I wanted to see it in the flesh before purchasing. As far as I'm aware, this is the only mobile phone that is available for hard of hearing people that is sold in shops so I find it difficult to understand why people are not stocking it anymore. As there are millions of us who struggle with hearing problems (probably due to too much clubbing in the 60's in my case!) maybe Doro could consider advertising on TV to make people aware of the advantages of having one? All in all. a great phone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I bought this phone for my father. My father is 86 years old and hard of hearing. He finds this phone quite good. Even though he did struggled in the beginning but slowly he is getting use to it. Big screen and easy to use on and off buttons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from tight fitting dock Phone worked well but is let down by the tight fitting Dock as it requires a very firm push to locate correctly and 2 hands to pull the phone out of the dock. This feature lets the phone down making it hard for a person with limited grip to use. This product was chosen due to having a dock which should have made charging easy. Would highly recommend if dock problem was sorted

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It would be good to get started! Bought the 8030 three days ago, charged it up, plugged in SIM, down loaded the only available App, The Doro Startup app, so far cannot get past the first page, screens do not scroll up or down, the commentary tells me each line/button I have pressed but nothing has happened yet. Cannot use the phone as it is not available. Cannot get out of startup, no skip option, I have pressed "I have used a smart phone before" but nothing happens, I have rebooted 6 times, still nothing except the nice voice telling me what I am pressing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could do better for their target market of the elderly and unfamiliar with smart phones I bought this phone for my 88 year old mother (zero tech skills lousy hearing and eyesite) and my handicapped brother. Many features are wonderful like the big buttons and less features which is why I bought it. It is loud and visually not bad. A few features drive me CRAZY trying to help from 3000 miles away. 1) There are TWO different ways to answer the phone. One is with a clear green or red circle. Clear and easy to teach. For some reason the phone was updated so some of the time you get a ring around a black circle and faint little arrows to swipe right or left to answer. REALLY? WHAT WERE THE DESIGNERS THINKING? did they give it to anyone to try? This is impossible for my mum as it is practically invisible and you need good fine motor skills and the concept of a "swipe" is hard mentally and physically. 2) it can be really hard sometimes to end a call. Half the time a nice big red clear circle. thunbs up. Sometimes you have to swipe and then press something to end a call. REALLY? try teaching that one!!! We had one call go on for 36 minutes after I ended it because the phone call at my mothers end did not end. International call rates!!!!! My recommendation to Doro is that answering and ending a call must be visually really clear, always look the same, and only involve a touch - never a swipe. Please don't stop your work as it is really important but please try out "upgrades" on the elderly. Doro - you are the one company trying to help those left behind by modern technology. Thank you.
